乐动体育官方网站This is Part 2 of our Blog post on the better, new HMI (Human Machine Interface) Amar has recently introduced and what we learned in the process.Pleaseclick herefor Part 1 of this blog post.
Here are some more of our thoughts on HMI design and what our users love:
- Ergonomics needs to enter our reactor designs:For some reason most reactor models today focus on chemical engineering e.g.rpms, heat transfer, safety, etc., and ignore ease of use. This is a fact.Lab chemists have been taken for granted about lifting heavy autoclaves, aligning fasteners, and other such tasks. This can in the long run be a cause for injury also.乐动体育官方网站Have a look at Amar's pneumatic raising and lowering arrangement. Furthermore tilting is also possible to drain products etc.The lab chemists love this!Of course, we have had these features for a while now but often end users may be unaware and keep buying sub-optimal models.
- Data acquisition to user computers is a major ask.Gone are the days of manual readings in paper notebooks.Increasingly users ask us to interface with their electronic lab notebook systems. We point users toHiTec ZhangandSystagas some examples of such data aggregation systems.乐动体育官方网站Amar systems can easily dump data to your PC and even be controlled remotely. We are also working on a new Android App and wireless logging abilities.Stay tuned!
- Interoperability:Users want systems from different vendors to talk to each other.Proprietary interfaces make user's lives harder.E.g.乐动体育官方网站The Heating Cooling system must be able to respond to a temperature trend from the Lab Reactor. At Amar, we are committed to keeping our protocols open and are happy to work with your software vendors to connect our systems. Our advice to users: Don't purchase systems with proprietary, closed, non-transparent data protocols.Beware!Otherwise, you will be stuck with legacy systems for a long time.We have heard many such cautionary tales.
- Ramp up the screen brightness:Especially for pilot plant systems they may be in brightly lit areas or partially outdoors.Such HMIs can be extremely hard to read on a sunny day. This is something we are still working on to improve.Stand by for the next model design we are working on.
- Users love Large screens!Never compromise on-screen real estate. It's not a trade-off that makes sense.Users use widescreens at home and other places and hate squinting at Reactor HMIs.Also, many of our users are no longer young, and their eyesight thanks you every font you make larger!
We hope these two blog posts give our users some thinking points when choosing their next Reactor system.Ask your vendors the right questions and you will get a system you love.Pleasecontact us乐动体育官方网站at Amar to get a no-obligation quote for your next reactor purchase!
